Mindset To Improve Exercise Results

Can expectations, and mindset, create potential positive results? Alia Crum, a prominent psychologist, has conducted influential research on mindset, and expectation, and how they improve results. One of her notable studies considered the role of mindset (expectation) in relation to the benefits of exercise. Participants were divided into two groups: one group was provided with information that emphasized the positive health benefits of exercise. The second group received neutral information without specific positive health information.

Both groups followed the same exercise program. The results of the study were intriguing. The participants who were primed with positive health expectations experienced greater improvements in physical fitness, and cardiovascular health, compared to the neutral group. This suggests the participants’ beliefs about the benefits of exercise had a direct influence on their physical results. Positive beliefs were shown to enhance the benefits of exercise and improve results.
